Finitive today announced the closing of a ~$60 million financing for the latest portfolio of patent litigation cases, bringing the total amount funded under the program to $250+ million. The financing was provided by a large international bank.

Finitive’s patent litigation funding program meets a large unmet need among patent owners and law firms – for sophisticated funding solutions – and offers a unique risk/return profile for investors.

“Institutional investors are drawn to litigation finance because of its potential to deliver superior returns with low correlation to other asset classes and its countercyclical characteristics,” said Jon Barlow, founder and CEO of Finitive. “We are thrilled with this closing, which will enable plaintiffs to pursue infringements on their patents. This financing is a great example of how Finitive is making investments into an opaque asset class fast, accessible and easy.”

Finitive is programmatically originating a robust pipeline of patent litigation portfolios, providing investment opportunities for both lead investors and co-investment.
